Board Member for Production Frank Dreves: Investment in tomorrow
INGOLSTADT, Germany, Oct 19, 2009 – In recognition of Audis 100th birthday, the company with the four rings will once again invest considerably in its future. Earthwork operations for a key construction project in the northern sector of Audis Ingolstadt site will begin in late October. More than 100 million will be invested in a new body-manufacturing shop for the Audi A3.
The modern facilities for the manufacturing of Audi A3 bodies will encompass some 40,000 square meters (430,556.42 square feet). Board Member for Production Frank Dreves: The Audi A3 is one of the most coveted models in Audis portfolio of products. The new body-manufacturing shop will pave the way for the continued success of this model.
Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council at AUDI AG, believes that the wide-ranging construction project sends a clear signal to staff: The new body-manufacturing shop constitutes a long-term investment in the Ingolstadt production site and will provide excellent prospects for lasting job security.
Over two million units of the Audi A3 have been produced at the Ingolstadt plant since 1996. In other words, this model line is one of the greatest success stories in the history of Audi.
