Product Review

I had made a horrible, stupid, stupid mistake. I had a hard pile of bird turd on my trunk.

Repeated soakings and rubbings had not succeeded in removing the offending spot.

I then used the pot scrubbing side of a sponge to remove it.

The bird turd came off - but when the paint dried I had this highly scratched surface that looked gray!!!

(dumb, dumb, dumb).

Introduce the Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound:

I felt the description of the product (see above) would be perfect for removing this blemmish.

As it turns out this product is far too abrasive for the soft Audi paint.

I removed many of my sponge scratches with this product, but the product introduced many more.

I had been careful to rub very gently and without many strokes - but as the product says - it is HEAVY DUTY.

I would not recommend using this product for any Audi blemmish at all.

Introduce the Turtle Wax Scratch Remover product:

I then moved to the more gentile Scratch Remover product from Turtle Wax to try and rectify my second mistake.

This product is MUCH BETTER and totally appropriate for my soft Audi paint.

I was able to use this product more as a polish and rub good and hard with many repeated strokes.

I could see the effect I had on the paint as the offending scratches were removed.

I was able to bring the paint back up to a glossy shine with this product - but it had still been strong enough to remove all those scratches.

I also used it on a paint blemmish I had from a door ding.

I was able to successfully remove most of the other car's paint almost entirely - it was much harder than my paint.

The resulting shine made the old blemmish all but invisible.

I highly recommend the Scratch Remover product to deal with any blemmishes and strongly suggest you avoid the Rubbing Compound.
