Autothority 0.8 Bar Chip for 1.8T Engines

By: Joey Manansala     Email: manansal@web.com     (Sept-99)

Make & model of car the product was used on: 99.5 A4 1.8TQM

I put my chip in at 1500 miles and now have 7000 on the odometer. I love it, has made a big difference and so far no problems. It pulls much stronger than stock especially from 3000-5500 rpms. After that, the power drops off (btw I put on a Brullen SS exhaust afterwards, and now it pulls hard all the way to redline).

Some Gtech numbers 0-60:
stock, 84 degrees, 1/2 tank gas, 290 lbs of people
8.1 seconds

Autothority chip, 3/4 tank, 88 degrees, same people
6.8 seconds (average of 2 passes different directions)

Autothority chip, Brullen exhaust, 1/2 tank, 84 degrees, 290
6.2 seconds (again 2-way average)

Now before you flame me, I just want to state I claim no accuracy in the Gtech. I am merely telling you guys what it said to me. You can interpret the results in any way you want. All, I can say, is I felt a strong seat of the pants difference with each modification.

One last thing, I paid 325 for the Autothority chip aand it took 10 minutes to install once I got my ECU back. Also, after running the chip for 4 months, I ran another set of Gtech numbers and again got 6.1s, then 6.3 seconds. So I think it definitely doesn't maladapt. Ok, thanks for reading. Email if you have any questions.
