Forge Divertor Valve By: Josh Wyte Email: josh_wyte@yahoo.com (December-00) Make & model of car the product was used on: '97 A4 1.8Tqmsw Well, I was getting some inconsistent numbers from my boost gauge and the car seemed kinda surgey. I figured the stock DV had given up the ghost. I looked at the options, Porsche DV, Bailey Valve and the Forge. I decided on the Forge as it looked beefy, was readily available and was cheaper than the Bailey. I have friends with the Bailey and it works great too, so pretty much chose one. The install on the '97 was a little different as the DV was mounted much higher in the bay than the later ('98.5+) A4's. Mine is basically right behind the rad fan. It's a bit of a bear to get at, but I removed the airbox snorkel and was able to get at it. Some people also remove the passenger headlite to get more space. The Forge valve is bigger than the stock valve and rests against the rear fan housing. So far I haven't had any trouble with that. The vacuum line just barely fits over the nipple on top of the Forge valve. Reuse the factory hose clamps as the ones included with the Forge valve blow! They will cut up the stock hoses quickly. I noticed better boost response and no more surging after I had installed the Forge valve. I didn't reset the ECU, I figured I'd see if I needed too, so far so good. The Forge valve comes in plain black and is pretty much indistinguishable from stock. All in all a good product, I'd buy it again. |
