After reading EC article, and fact that local dealer could swap ECU's on the spot, installed chip and air filter from TAP at 1500 mi (gee, that happens to be the end of break in!).

Car now pulls much better and is a lot more fun to drive. Overall the chip makes the car what it should have been from factory.

The initial chip pinged somewhat on hard 2nd-3rd gear acceleration. TAP installed a new chip in my original ECU and sent this back to me. Still has a ping or two on hots days when pulling hard in 3rd gear. The only other negative is that when the engine is cold, it runs a little hesitantly in the first two gears. After about 45-60 seconds this goes away. Overall I would give TAP's stage I a thumbs up.
