As many of you have no doubt noticed, the stock Bridgestone Potenzas on the
S4 simply do not cut it in the snow. Upon realizing this, I set out to
find a set of snow tires to fit the stock 17" rims. With 225/45/17 being a
rare size in the first place, finding a set of snow tires in this size in
January seemed almost impossible. After numerous calls, I finally found a
dealer who said they could hook me up. They didn't specify the brand however.
I sent my father out to
retrieve the tires and he returned with 4 brand new Vredestein Winter trac
tires. I had never heard of this company before, but after much research
found them to be a VERY respectable company. After driving many miles in the
snow with them on, I agree with those sources. I
experience virtually zero slippage in relatively deep snow. Another plus
is that these tires are "performance" snow tires, with their ride
being surprisingly close to the Bridestones. So for all you guys
that want to drive fast in the snow, I HIGHLY recommend them.

V-rated high performance snows - 225-45-17 in place of sport package 235-45-17
OEM summer tires.
I was able to buy these tires and have them mounted, tax included, for under
$600. the ride, handling and traction are phenomenal for a snow tire, although
the car is so quiet that they do sound a little loud in the bends.
