Snap, Crackle and Pop: 900-HP Audi RS6 Avant Sounds Unhinged

900 HP Audi RS6 Avant

The 2021 Audi RS6 Avant plenty fast right out of the box. But from some folks, it’s still not enough.

Since it was announced that the Audi RS6 Avant would be making the trip across the Atlantic, the wicked fast longroof has generated plenty of attention. Last week, I posted a video of Doug DeMuro comparing the RS6 Avant to his personal RS2 Avant, and I’ve also written about MTM’s ferociously tuned RS6, along with what’s believed to be the first wrecked example to turn up for auction. For the record, I’m still hoping that potent drivetrain winds up in an Audi restomod like this killer 100 Coupe S.

Now, that might be too much hot wagon for you. And in that case? You’re probably lost. Maybe this is more up your alley? Given how tough things have been lately, everyone could probably use a double dose of cuddly animals.

Of course, the coolest thing about the RS6 making its way to more and more owners are all the tuned models that are starting to make their way on to the web. The latest one we’ve spotted is this 900-horsepower gem recently profiled by Auditography. The footage was shot in the Austrian Alps, and in the video description, the folks there said it almost caused an avalanche.

After watching the clip, it seems like while there might be a little hyperbole at play there, there might not be too. Because this baby sounds loud as hell, and there’s so much snap crackle and pop on display, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn the legal eagles at Kellogg’s are drafting a cease and desist as we speak.

But what’s really cool is that it doesn’t sound like a tremendous amount of work has been done to the car to get to the lofty horsepower figure. The ECU has been tuned by the wizards at BTM Turbo, and the Tango Red beast is also rocking Milltek downpipes, a 200-cell racing cat, and an Akrapovic diffuser. Those are the only mentions of go-fast bits, so it sure seems like the engineers in Ingolstadt left plenty of room for the aftermarket crowd to play with.

All the extra poke means this machine will haul far more than cargo. The sprint to 60 mph is reported to come in just shy of the three-second mark, and the top speed is said to be over 200 mph. Personally, I think those specs sound great. But what really sounds great about this machine is, well, the sound. Because while the places where you can exploit its performance to more than a fraction of its potential are few and far between, the killer audio is far, far easier to enjoy.

That said, given great the cinematography of the Auditography videos are, it’d be awesome to see the crew there do a Petrolicious-style take on it, where they talk to the owner and the builder, so we can get more of an understanding of exactly what went into making this baby a reality. Enjoy the clip, and if you have a line on a hot new Audi wagon, or anything interesting, make sure to hit me up!
