Alex Job Racing Audi R8 LMS Ready for The Glen
Alex Job Racing drivers Bill Sweedler (Westport, Conn.), Townsend Bell (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Frankie Montecalvo (Highlands, N.J.), are ready to take on the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen this weekend, June 30-July 2.
Sweedler and Bell are coming off of a third place run in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The duo want to carry that momentum forward this weekend at The Glen. Teammate Frankie Montecalvo has been keeping his competitive edge sharp as well since Sebring running in the Pirelli World Challenge Series. In addition to all of the drivers being in race shape the Audi R8 LMS has received favorable balance of performance (BoP) changes since the team last raced at Sebring in March.
“I have raced at the Glen multiple times over the years,” Montecalvo said. “My last time there was in 2014 running in IMSA LMPC. We actually finished third, so I’d would like to better my resume at The Glen and get another podium. I think the Audi will actually do very well at The Glen. I think there are multiple corners on the track that suit the characteristics of the Audi and its great handling. We will need to set-up the car for great rolling speed through the back section of the track. Although I have never run on the new pavement yet I am certainly looking forward to the new smooth surface. I think the new surface will improve lap times and overall grip once it rubbers in for the weekend.”
“We had a great run at Le Mans and we will be looking to keep the momentum going into the Glen,” Sweedler said. “The Audi has been prepped by the Alex Job Racing team and is ready to go! I am looking forward to competing amongst all the IMSA teams on U.S. soil!”
“The Audi was on pole at the Detroit race, so that tells me there is more speed in the car since I drove it at Sebring in March,” Bell said. “Bill and I are still smiling over our Le Mans run and we know Frankie is motivated to have a good run this weekend at The Glen to keep that feeling going.”
“Coming off of the toughest Sebring our team has ever had we are looking forward to getting back to racing,” Team Owner Alex Job said. “The Stevenson Audi was on pole at Detroit and showed some good speed, so we are anxious to see what it will do at The Glen this weekend. Bill and Townsend are in race shape from Le Mans and Frankie has kept busy as well, we will see if we can put it all together this weekend at The Glen for a result.”
The IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International will air on FS1 Sunday, July 2, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EDT and transition to FS2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
