Audi A8: Excellent Theft Protection
Certified security: the Audi A8 is the first vehicle worldwide to receive the “Certified Security” quality seal from the Allianz Zentrum für Technik (AZT – Allianz Centre for Technology). “For our customers, this award is visible confirmation of the high-level `invisible’ anti-theft system built into the A8,” said Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the AUDI AG Board of Management, during the AZT certificate award ceremony. This is another important accolade for the award-winning flagship of the Audi model range. The previous award came from British car insurers, who gave the Audi A8 “British Car Security Award” for its excellent theft protection, for which it is the top vehicle in the luxury class. Audi customers gain particular benefit from the Allianz research institute’s quality seal, as this certified excellent anti-theft system contributes directly to stable insurance cost development. Before it issues an award, the renowned Allianz research institute tests five areas that are fundamentally important for efficient theft protection: the electronic immobiliser design, how well the anti-theft systems are protected against manipulation, continuous monitoring of security-related spare parts distribution, the manufacturer’s extensive evaluation and analysis options in the event of a theft and other additional security and protection components. The standard A8 meets all these AZT requirements. In the words of Dr. Winterkorn, “this quality seal recognises and confirms our developers’ and engineers’ efforts to continuously improve theft protection in our cars.” Experts from the electronics, mechanical and customer service divisions co-operate closely and constantly liaise with external research institutes, criminal investigation authorities and car insurers to improve theft protection. The Audi A8 features state-of-the-art security technologies, including an electronic steering column lock and the fourth-generation electronic immobiliser. Moreover, vehicle components relevant for theft protection can only be replaced after online authorisation. All Audi dealerships worldwide are networked. This restrictive process management provides additional, subsequent theft protection. |
