AUBURN HILLS, Mich. –– Audi of America, Inc. reported it’s second best October in the company’s history. Sales of 6,659 units are up 9.4 % over October 2004. Strong performers were again the new A4 and new A6 model lines.

The A4 (Sedan, Avant, Cabriolet and S models with 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder engines) sold in 4.069 units, on par with last year’s October of 4,076 sales. The A6 model line, available as 3.2 V6- and 4.2 V8-cylinder sedans as well as a new V6-cylinder Avant, sold 1,382 units, up 158.8 % over last years sales.

“Among the many other reasons for their particular popularity, we see consumers highly interested in the “Double Best Pick” Safety Awards by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for both the new Audi A4 and the new Audi A6 this year”, says Stephen Berkov, Audi of America’s Director of Marketing. It has been the first time ever that a car manufacturer received this award for two separate models in their line-up.

“Audi sales have again been extremely good after last month’s best September sales ever, despite a heavily declining market and significantly reduced incentives”, says Executive Vice President of Audi of America, Johan de Nysschen. “As our continuous performance throughout the year clearly shows, Audi is gaining momentum.” Year-to-date, Audi of America has sold 66,315 cars, up 4.6 percent over the same period in 2004.

“Audi is offering the youngest line-up of all premium brands”, says de Nysschen, “the new A3 being the latest offering on the market. We can see that our consumers respond to the effort and investment we put into our products.” The A3 has been launched in the US with a highly effective innovative marketing campaign in May. The new Audi Q7, launched to the press last September, will complete the line-up in May of next year.

But it is not only about product. On the sales front, Audi is investing heavily into its dealer network. The Audi sales network of 267 dealer outlets now comprises of 86 exclusive stores, no less than 11 of which were opened in 2005. Says de Nysschen: “with excellent product and an excellent dealer network, I am confident that we are set up perfectly in this very competitive market environment”.
