Audi RS7 Owner Busted for 187 in a 65 MPH, Drug Trafficking

Audi RS7

There’s so much stupid at play in this story about a speeding Audi RS7, it’ll  make your head hurt.

According to Audi, the 2020 RS7 is capable of 190 mph, which is legal to hit on certain sections of the autobahn, and absolutely no public roads in the United States. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop a Maryland man from winding his new super sedan up to 187 mph on a highway in North Carolina, and unsurprisingly, things didn’t work out so well. The best news about this situation is that nobody got hurt, which given the variables at play, wasn’t exactly a given.

Details come from Raleigh NBC affiliate WRAL, which reported that 39-year-old Ayaz Naeem Ansari attempted to run from troopers after flying through a work zone, where the posted limit was a relatively pedestrian 65 mph. When Ansari refused to pull over, stop strips were laid out further down the freeway, and he crashed while trying to avoid them.

Reportedly, the car was still at triple-digit speeds when it left the pavement, but in the video posted on WRAL, it doesn’t look like there was too much damage. From what we can tell, the car just put itself in the service position.

At the time of his arrest, Ansari was headed to Myrtle Beach to show off his new ride. But now, along with a laundry list of offenses related to the ill-advised speeding, he’s also facing charges for drug trafficking, as he was apparently riding dirty at the time of arrest.

So in case you had any doubt in your mind? This guy is a complete idiot. Because not only was he stupid enough to be hitting impound-level speeds in a construction zone, he was doing it while carrying enough weight to be charged with not just possession, but trafficking. Yikes. Remember kids, it’s best to only break one law at a time.

Hopefully, the damaged Audi gets repaired soon, and the next owner isn’t a maniac drug dealer. To see an RS7 stretching its legs in a perfectly legal way, check out the video below. And if you happen to stumble across a suspiciously banged-up Audi on Craigslist in Maryland or North Carolina? Let us know. We’re curious about where this baby will end up…
