  • Sales to be increased fivefold in the medium term
  • Still considerable potential in the region

AUDI AG is to set up its own importer in Korea. The current importer, Gojin Motor Imports, will continue to work for Audi as a dealer.

According to Ralph Weyler, Member of the Board for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG: “This decision underlines the importance of the Korean market for Audi. We believe that the entire Asia-Pacific region still has considerable potential for our brand. Having our own importer means that we will be able to make the decisions and investments necessary to expand significantly in the next few years.”

The new importer will be set up in the next few weeks and is to commence full operations from 1 October. Gojin Motor Imports will continue to work as the Audi importer in the interim period.

According to Jörg Hofmann, responsible at Audi for the Asia-Pacific region: “This step is a clear indication to our customers in Korea that, as far as the development of the market is concerned, we are thinking and acting with the long term in mind. We want to clearly increase our sales in Korea.”

Audi sold about 900 vehicles in the Republic of Korea in 2003.
