Maximize the performance of your Audi RS3 or TT RS with the recently launched Unitronic Dogbone Mount.

If you currently own an Audi RS3 or an Audi TT RS you are already a lucky dog. These fine performance machines wear the coveted RS badge. That means that they have been tested and tuned on the Nürburgring for maximum performance under extreme conditions. However, even extreme, hard-core sports cars have margin for improvement. The folks at Unitronic know this as well as anyone. They develop tunes and products for most Audi models including the extra special RS cars. The latest product to come out of Unitronic is their Dogbone Mount, also referred to as the Pendulum Mount. The Dogbone Mount will be compatible with the 2017 to 2020 RS3 and the 2017 to 2021 TT RS.

Some aftermarket performance upgrades will make a car faster or handle better but at the expense of comfort and daily drivability. So, you need to think twice about upgrading your car if you also intend to drive places besides a racetrack. The nice thing about this new Dogbone Mount is that it doesn’t make you trade performance for comfort. It will offer sharper responses but still keep noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) in check.

What is a Dogbone Mount?

It may have a funny name, but it plays a serious role. A Dogbone Mount reduces and absorbs the torque transfer generated by a transverse-mounted engine under acceleration. This is generally a good thing as it keeps NVH in check. However, for those that are looking to really push their car, they want this stiffened up to avoid things like wheel hop when accelerating hard. And let’s be honest, you bought an RS car to accelerate hard.

The Unitronic Difference

Unitronic’s Dogbone Arm and Endcaps are 5-axis CNC machined from T7075 billet aluminum. Unitronic goes to great lengths designing and engineering these parts to ensure these are a direct bolt-on fitment. There are two specifications that you can choose from depending on how firm you want to go. For most street applications and the occasional track day you will want to opt for the yellow polyurethane bushing. But if you are building yourself a dedicated track car you will want the stiffer red polyurethane bushing. Keep in mind that even the yellow model can be made stiffer by increasing the torque value of the bolt that secures the bottom cap.

When and How Much?

The yellow street oriented Dogbone Mount is available now. It will set you back $499.99. Your racecar build will have to wait just a little bit longer. The red track oriented Dogbone Mount is expected to arrive in April 2022. Pricing for that one has yet to be announced. This is one of those upgrades that no one will ever see, but you will be able to feel it from behind the wheel. If you want to go fast you don’t want your car wheels to be jumping off the ground. This is a reasonable investment that will give your car that little extra edge on road or track.
