READY FOR THE PERFORMANCE CLASS! ABT TAKES THE AUDI S4 TO 425 HP AND 550 NM
Counting the first variant on the Audi 100 basis, the Audi S4 is now available in its 6th edition. And of course the design engineers want each generation to be better than the one before. With 354 HP (260 kW) and maximum 500 Nm, the current Audi S4 is more powerful than any of its predecessors. The only fly in the ointment: even the earlier RS models are more powerful. But as there is no RS version of the current A4 yet, the S4 has the unique opportunity of filling this gap. After all, ABT Sportsline provides a “secondary education” with 425 HP (313 kW) and a solid 550 Nm.
The 20 per cent increase in horsepower is due to the ABT Power “New Generation” control unit. “A substantial test and development program and extensive follow-up warranties – optionally up to 36 months – provide comprehensive protection for the owner,” Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Abt explains. For additional admiring glances, owners can choose from the numerous ABT aerodynamics options. The range comprises add-on parts for the front lip and radiator grille, fender inserts made of ABS plastic or carbon and the new rear skirt including the rear muffler. Details such as the ABT integrated entrance light and matching floor mat and trunk mat sets complete the look.
Eye-catching alloy wheels are practically a must for a “thunderbolt” like this. ABT Sportsline offers the DR and ER-C designs as 19 or 20 inch rims and the FR and GR designs in 20 inch. Depending on the model selected, a variety of finishes are available: from mystic black to gun metal and silver bullet all the way to matte black and glossy black. Several designs also have a diamond-machined finish on partial surfaces. All stated models can also be purchased from ABT Sportsline as complete wheel sets, either with Dunlop or Continental tires.
The ABT rims look particularly good with the ABT height adjustable suspension springs, which allow variable lowering between 15 and 40 mm on front and rear axle. But of course they also ensure that the ABT S4 is among the fastest of its kind not only on straights, but also in corners. Sometimes it can be this simple to move up a class.
