Sleeper Audi 100 quattro Slays GT-Rs: Video
Obvious performers are great, but giant-killers like this Audi 100 quattro are a special kind of cool.
There’s not shortage of fast Audis out there in the world. Right out of the box, most of the machines bearing the fabled Four Rings are pretty quick. But time and time again, the wizards at Ingolstadt have provided tuners around the globe with ridiculously potent platforms to build on, and this 100 quattro sleeper is a fantastic example of just how much can be accomplished without messing with the exterior.
Because here? There’s nothing as obvious as a garish body kit or straight pipe poking up out of the hood. Nope. Initially, everything looks to be almost as it was when this handsome sedan rolled out of the showroom. As the clip demonstrates, however, is there’s quite a bit going on where it counts — under the hood. According to the info Automotive Mike posted in the description, this baby is packing a whopping 760 horsepower, and the quattro system makes it grip like a cat on carpet.
The engine here is a 2.5-liter stroker with a laundry list of mods, including a ported head, aggressive cams, and 2200-cc injectors. Impressively, it’s still street legal, and while the turbo is currently running at a whopping 33.3 psi, that’s apparently not the end game here, as more boost is being tested. How much more power they can get is anyone’s guess, but I’m really curious about what’s been done to the drivetrain to keep it from turning to scrap metal. Seriously, those launches can’t be easy on the greasy bits.
Anyway, on the first run we see, against a beefy Benz, it looks like the driver missed a shift at launch. On the next two goes, they do far better, and deliver a one-two punch to a pair of modern GT-Rs. Now, as someone who has experienced just how fast Godzilla is firsthand, I can’t even imagine how quick the Audi must be to walk them like that. It’s beyond impressive, and I’ll be keeping an eye on this channel to see if more performance does actually materialize.
