INGOLSTADT, Germany – As of 1st August 2007, Toni Melfi (40) will be the new Head of Communication at AUDI AG. In this function he will report directly to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, and to the Head of Communication for the Volkswagen Group, Stephan Gruhsem.

Melfi began his career in October 1986 as a trainee in the editorial office of the “Südkurier” daily newspaper in Konstanz.

In April 1991 he was appointed as an editor of the magazine “auto motor und sport” in Stuttgart and was responsible for the economy, traffic policy and environment portfolios in the “Journal/Service” section. Three years later he was promoted to head of the section. In the spring of 2000, Melfi moved to the business magazine “WirtschaftsWoche” in Düsseldorf, where he was the correspondent responsible for the automotive industry.

In September 2001, Melfi was appointed head of the “Automotive Business Affairs” communication department of DaimlerChrysler AG. From May 2004, Melfi was Head of Corporate Communication for the Stuttgart-based group, and later he was appointed assistant Head of Group Communication. Since January 2006, he was Head of Corporate Communication at Tognum AG in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
