Default 2003 A4 1.8t Timing belt broke

The timing belt broke on me yesterday while coasting toward a red light. Lucky it didn't happen 5 minutes early while on the highway.

I have 104k on it. I've only owned it for 4 months. There was a sticker under the hood that said the belt was replaced at 76k. Guess I got juxed.

Any ideas what the damage could be?

My experience - expect your valves and possibly the pistons to need replacing. The Valve guides can also be bent. Of course, all the work that goes into getting to those pieces is not trivial.

Just to be clear - I'm new to Audi, I understand this is an "interference" motor. In this case, my experience was my four wheeler, but it's typical of interference motors when the timing belt/chain goes while the engine is running.

Default Not good news...

Well, if you are lucky, you will need a head rebuild. At a minimum your valves are trash. If you are not so lucky you may have also lost a piston / crank. These ARE interference engine. I'd check your area for a trusted mechanic before tearing into this work on your own. Good luck!
