Default 2003 Audi a4 1.8t quattro no crank, no start, no fuel pressure

So I purchased this car a few weeks ago from a friend with a leaking coolant flange. I got the car with no battery or stereo in it. replaced the flange. Put a battery in it, turn the key and nothing happens. Dash lights and everything else works. Check fuses and grounds and what not and can't find anything. When I turn the key it's not building fuel pressure either. Also the fans have a mind of their own and turn on and off as they please key on or not which I figure is a relay or controller. Any idea on where to start ? Car is a 5 speed

Yes. When I turn the key it doesn't make a sound and does nothing. The dash says press clutch pedal to start. I took the fuel line off the fuel rail and cycled the key and no fuel.

But no power going through the wire to the starter solenoid, so that rules out the starter. I can't find anything for a relay or anything. Help would be appreciated.

So even if you depress the clutch, that message doesn't go away? check the clutch switch?

No it doesn't go away. Think I found the problem tho. The cover to the ecu is cracked and some of the relays got wet. I ordered the relays so hopefully this fixs it

I decided to jump the starter and the car fired right up. Could it be an ignition switch or neutral safety switch. Any way to test them or any ideas
