Flashing CEL means stop driving car or risk melting the front face of catalytic converter which can plug the exhaust. If you smell "rotten egg" type odor then it is already happening because raw fuel is burning on the hot cat and starting to melt. At least one cylinder is not burning fuel therefore raw fuel will enter exhaust. Could be a few things but a common issue for this symptom is a failed coil pack. Use a scanner to determine which cylinder is not firing. Swap a coil pack from a working cylinder to see if the problem follows the coil pack, and consider inspecting spark plugs for fouling due to excessive age or a failing PCV system while coil packs are out.
