Help, see my valves and spark plugs PICS
Hello,
I need help in identifying what is causing the engine to run so different or rather lean/rich across all 4 cylinders.
I'd like to figure out if the valves are healthy with this snow white deposit on them or what indicators to look for when diagnosing and fixing the engine.
One of the valve sets on cylinder 2 (counting front to back) are dark brown for some reason, but I don't know if I should attribute that to a lean, rich, normal, oil, sludge or other condition. I've also attached pictures of the spark plugs, and as far as I can tell 1 bank is running very lean, one is a little bit lean, and the other 2 are somewhat normal perhaps or rich. I just don't know.
If anyone is experienced with the 1.8t engine please let me know what your thoughts are and what I should do to get it running right.
A little more info on my car:
- 04 Audi B6 A4 1.8t Quattro automatic 130k miles with all the usual failure items done (camshaft tensioner etc)
- Car is not showing check engine lights, but feels down on power, especially in the higher revs. Boost may be running in limp mode, but not sure since I bought it used and it's very slow from the factory anyways. Have not looked for codes yet but will soon.
- Car came with a stage 1 GIAC tune and TT 225 386cc injectors. Coilpacks and spark plugs replaced with new OEM coils and NGK plugs. Car seemed to be pulling a ton of timing above 4k rpm or perhaps pinging/knocking.
- I am currently installing a Frankentrubo F21, high flow manifold, turbo inlet pipe, test pipe, race tec front mount intercooler, diverter valve, and replacing any damaged hoses/lines/tubes/etc. However when I pulled off the stock turbo manifold I realized something may be wrong after looking at the ports, valves and spark plugs. I have Ross Tech vag diag + logging software and cable coming in the mail soon and will post any codes I find.
Thanks for the help!

With no fault codes? I've never seen plugs that snowy white.. But if it's not throwing codes for being too lean, probably fine. If you're worried, do a compression and leakdown test.
