Default 12v 2,6 ABC engine, idle/throttle problem

Hello people.

I have a very annoying problem with my old -95 A4 quattro, the idle is high at all times (around 1500 rpms), and suddently it starts to rush up and down from about 1000-1500, and will suddenly stop this again. If i just touch the gas pedal, the throttle will rev up to around 3000rpms, and come down to about 1500 again.
Have changed the throttle potentiometer/switch, and fixed a vacuum leak, throttle body gasket also replaced.
I am at a loss now, not understanding what the problem might be.
Diagnostics show nothing.

Any ideas people?

Raising this thread from the dead - but it's one of the few I found when searching for this problem so it might help someone else...

Disconnect the plug to the ICV. Start the engine, let it run for a minute or so. Stop the engine, reconnect the plug. Start the engine and it now idles at 700 RPM.

ABC engine, started out at 3000 RPM and then and hunting around 2000 RPM when idling after cold start. This happened after complete battery drain.

I suggest to refresh your knowledge my friend. Early production of A4 B5 started at late 1994 with first released in 1995.

The thing is your throttle valve. It has to adapt either by driving or with VAGCOM.

How much driving would it take for it to adapt?
