Hello,

My 98 Audi a6 Quatro, is having problems starting. All the lights will come on but it won't start or even crank. I replaced the ignition switch 3 months ago. I believe it is the starter with the wire being eroded. I attached a few pictures of the eroded wire to confirm it is the problem before i begin to replace it.

Peter...looks like that is a really bad wire..you need a starter.

You may want to indicate what model 1998 A6 Quattro you have..if it is an Avant..it should have the 12v V6 engine..it is a C4.

If you have a A6-C5..you have a 30V engine

Not that this is relevant for your question..that starter wire looks bad.
