Default Alright, so the power steering fluid I want is:

If I'm not doing a flush, I need:
Equivalent to Audi/VW G002000
Febi Bilstein 7.1 (Mfg. Germany)

And this is what's in my car now? (stock?) Just making absolutely sure!

Default I'd use the 11s.

What your car has in it now is Pentosin 11s. The 11s is the newer synthetic version, the 7.1 is older. You can supposedly use 7.1 in vehicles that came with 11s, but not vice versa. VW/Audi G002000 is 11s these days.

Several companies repackage Pentosin 7.1, including Febi, but the only place to get 11s is from VW/Audi or Pentosin themselves, AFAIK.

Default So wait, in my '97 Avant I already have 11? I know using the wrong one can have very bad results

Hence the paranoia

Default Yes, you have 11s.

You could get away with using 7.1. Cars that came with 7.1 cannot use 11s, however.
