Audi 90 intake modifications
Hi I've recently purchased a 93 Audi 90cs Quattro, and poking around the engine bay I noticed there was some potential airflow restrictions, the flapper in the airbox was the most concerning to me as the flapper blocks off the cold air intake behind the passenger side headlight and the warm air intake was the primary intake unless the car has enough air coming through the scoop behind the headlight and my understanding is the grill of a car is one of the low pressure/stagnant air spots on the car meaning the car never truly gets cold air, which may be good for emissions and economy but not so great for the performance of the vehicle, what I have done is push the flapper over toward the warm air intake and pushing the spring arm over a mm or so to lock the flapper over the warm air intake, I swear I've noticed performance improved from throttle closed to open, am I right or is this a faux fix to a non existent problem? And what about that accordion hose from intake box to throttle body? Am I just over analyzing or wouldn't that cause air turbulence to the manifold? Should that be replaced with silicone or metal tubing? I've tried searching the forums and other sites and I keep finding dead links and non existent photos!
any suggestions on opening up the power as much as possible without any major downtime? Am I on the right track?
