Found random screw on top of the engine??

Found random screw on top of the engine??
I was getting ready to replace the icv on my 96 A4 12v V6 and noticed this random screw on top of the engine. The last repair was over 6 months ago when I cleaned it and now the problem is back so it's time to replace. Anyway I don't remember taking anything like these out so I have no idea. Here's some pics. Maybe someone can help.
