New to the B5 A4, just picked up a 1996 12v with a 5 speed Quattro trans and its in pelican blue. So many of the electronics do not work and I’m slowly sorting out the car when I can. 235,000 miles and doesn’t miss a beat! I did the timing/water pump a couple weeks ago, very grateful for the front mounted timing assembly.

My '96 A4 12V had over 270K miles when I sold it several years ago, buffed polyurethane paint, fresh upholstery, and lowered. 90% of the max HP of the 30V 2.8 engine but still fast enough for my purposes, and no timing chain mechanisms to wear out either. It was low-tech compared to my current 3.0 B6 Quattro, but now that one is also getting to be an old-timer.

I should have never sold my '96 but I did, so I don't check the 12V section much. My current A4 is an '05 3.0, four sprockets, hydraulic adjustment on all cams. Way more moving parts than the 12V but so far about as reliable, engine-wise. 214K miles on it.

New member here, I recently picked up (and specifically searched for) a '97 B5 with the AFC 12v. I've wanted a B5 for a while, but and researched a lot on here before deciding the 12v was the engine for me.

It's a shame so many of the pictures are dead links. I've been saving as much as I can when I find it.

Just curious if you are still around? When I was looking I came across a car with the same specs as yours for sale in PA. Unfortunately it had a clutch bearing issue and the owner was holding firm on the price because of the color, so I had to pass.
