Re: lpg/natural gas mod for 12v? is this natural gas???
LPG is a propane/butane mix. Highly knock resistant (>100 RON), but a lower (~80%) calorific value than petrol.
It's been available in the UK for a few years now, and filling station numbers are on the increase.
Quite a few manufacturers are offering optional conversions from new Vauxhall (GM), Ford, Volvo etc.
My aftermarket LPG kit cost ~ £1000, and took 2 weeks to fit.
Petrol prices in the UK = £0.92/litre
LPG prices in the UK = £0.38/litre
My 2.6 A6 on petrol = 31 mpg (26 mpg US)
My 2.6 A6 on LPG = 25 mpg (21 mpg US)
equivalent mpg = 61 mpg (51 mpg US)
I travel ~30k miles/year, so the savings are great.
Cheers,
