I just resently replaced the engine in my car. I got the engine from a boneyard with 149,000 on it my car has 147,000 on it so i will be rebuilding the heads on the motor that came out of it. The motor that i put in it smokes on start, starting from a stop and on deceleration. I am just wondering if there is anything other then the rings that would make it smoke at these times. any pointers for thinngs to check would be well appriciated. thank you

valve stem seals.
i would runs seafoam thru everything first, then do an oil changes.

or you could get it a nicotine patch, maybe she will quit smoking ;-)

i have the same issue, havent gotten around to fixing mine. i have an oil leak in the valley under the manifold. it builds up and runs down the back of the motor during acceleration from a stop. check that out.
