Need some help fellas... Antifreeze reservoir has a crack
 

I need part numbers or a place where I can get one cheap...

As you can see though it's still seaping past the hose... so I need to get a new one unfortunately.

Anyone know how much these things run?

You will likely need to buy a new reservoir and cap, b/c Audi has . . .
 

superceded our original design.

Try: 8D0-121-403-D for the Reservoir; 1J0-121-321-B for the cap. I paid 37.48 and 6.24 respectively from the lowest price stealership here in Los Angeles (I did not not want to wait for overnight shipping from a cheaper source once I saw I had a pretty good crack on the bottom of my old reservoir).

When you replace the reservoir, wait until the car is completely cold--i.e., no pressure in the system.

I removed the black cover of the PS Fluid reservoir and unclipped the electrical connector "tree" thereunder. Then, I found a perfectly shaped tall jar into which the fluid could pour when I removed the hoses. Lay a few shop towels under the coolant reservoir in case you spill, put the jar in place, and drain the coolant from the old reservoir.

Before you pour the old coolant into the new reservoir, I would filter it using a coffee or similar filter, if it appears the least bit dirty.

If you do it right, you can get away with losing only milliliters of fluid. Then again, I have done this a couple of times--previously to clean out the reservoir.

It's not a terrible leak but I def want to fix it before it finishes off the crack. It's been leaking I think since the beginning of july... right after my mechanic did the TB and stuff. I highly doubt it was his fault for doing it, since you shouldn't even touch the reservoir during that exchange... only to replace the fluid.

But I have to make a 350 mile trek home the week after next and the last thing I want to happen is for my car to leak its vitals all over the highway =P

Did you drain it from the bottom hose where it leads to the radiator? Or did you turn it upside down and drain it from the cap?

Bottom hose into the jar worked perfectly for me . . .
 

but do not forget the top return hose also has a little fluid that requires draining. While I may appear paranoid, I hate leaking any fluids on to gaskets and/or electrical components.

by this point... enough has spilled down the side of the engine that a few more drops won't be the end of the world :-\

Thanks for the help though... I appreciate it. I ordered my tank this afternoon from www.autohausaz.com... total package shipped is 36 and change. I'll just catch a ride into work until I get it fixed with my buddy I guess... and then change it around when the people in my apartment complex aren't looking =P

damn... got my price beat by 2 bones =P
 

Thanks for the help there scott. I ordered mine from autohausaz.com for 33 and change. 2 bucks won't break the bank though, so I guess I'll be ok.

I paid $54 at the dealership. It was the same one that was on my car so....

updated version, so I had to buy a new cap f/ dealer, but it was only like $5.00. I buy a lot of parts from them &amp; have been very pleased with them so far.
