Why does the 12v call for 15-40 motor oil

I don't know, but all I have ever run in mine is 5W-30. I've got 225K+ miles and oil consumption nor leaks is an issue at all. I'd expect fuel mileage to be a little worse with the 15W-40.

it doesnt....it calls for 5w30 in most tempratures. It states its acceptable in like super super hot climates but thats all.

Default 10W30 all year long up here in Canada
