Default Showing off and with good reason. that's just having pride in your work

Man CR that's beautiful work on those heads. That's kinda cool were both in similar spots on our rebuilds. It looks great is this gonna be another supercharger project? )

An update on my 12v. I took both heads in to the machine shop for full head rework both heads needed valve guides so its gonna be more $$$ than I was hoping but what the hell ya only live once also sent a bunch parts there to get dipped and cleaned up nice for paint prep. Once they get back I'll gasket match them and polish em up nice and should be close to getting them on at that point. It'll be a week or two before I go pick them up but when I do I'll post pics for you guys.

thank you and this is going to be in its moded NA form i will build an SC motor one of these days i promise! (actually just brought home a complete motor for that project)
be careful with the exhaust ports, the holes from the head bolts are about 5mm away from the port.
im planning to have it running by the end of this week )

another thing you may want to consider doing is checking the mating surface of the headers do the head, my were warped. i ended up using 80 grit sandpaper, spray adhesive, and a peace of glass (all can be obtained at home depot) takes a few hours but doable. you also might be able to take them to a machine shop have them resurface them. im also about to blast them clean and use some Eastwood Internal Exhaust Coating, should help with the heat in the engine compartment

Default Hey CR how'd the install go?

Wondering how the install went and if ya had some pics. I've been out of town for 3 weeks so haven't been able to go get my heads and parts from the machine shop yet. Seeing yours gets me pumped to work on mine though

after about 500+ miles, i came to a conclusion that i need to port and polish the intake manifold itself and i need to build a full exhaust for this car.... it starts to fall on its face after 4500 rpm :-( but pulls really hard till then
how is your progress going?

CR..could be the secondary throttle change over in the intake is not working? I think it starts opening at about 3000rpm.

Knock sensors not working or retarding the timing due to ping?

Catalytic converter(s) or exhaust plugged up?

Camshaft timing?

Your intake and exhaust work is too meticulous for a poor running engine.

Default Throttle change over is at about 4100rpm

thank you i watched the intake switchover thing move past 4k, so i dont think thats it, you might be on to something with the knock sensors... will have to do some more work with the vag-com and the RIP chip.
but i'm thinking that this is being caused by exhaust, either the cats are in a poor condition or i just need to replace the whole system to a larger diameter pipes
thank you

handsofftheaudi sorry for hijacking your thread )
