Default POS heat sinks...

This slab of aluminum will get turned into POS heat sinks...I'll have enough for 1-2 extras if anyone is interested.

Default .....are not neeeded.

Especially on these cars. All thats needed is some new paste behind the heatsink every few years at most. Anyone who tells you their car completely stopped due to this part is full of BS. The most that happens is that you loose one channel at a time (one cylinder) and I've never heard of this my 5+ years on the 100/A6/90/Cab forums and the last 3+ years on the 12v Development forum. I'm not counting you know who's experience.. cause it didn't happen.

On the other hand, this would be great for the Urs4/Urs6 forum. They loose channels here and there after 120k+ miles of turbo heat cooking them. Never all the channels at once though...

Default Obviously they aren't needed, or they'd have come from the factory.

But I can tell you that if Audi built this car today it would have a more efficient means of cooling. Why do you think they put it on the airbox on B5 cars?

So lemme get this strait. You somehow think that:

1. The car will run with a fried POS. It won't.

2. Mance lied about being stranded due to a fried POS. Why would he lie about something like that?

I know this occurs way more often on the S cars, but it's cheap insurance.

Default He who believes ANYTHING electronic incapable of catastrophic failure or short-circuit simply...

because he "personally hasn't seen it" is misguided seven ways to Sunday. How can EVERYTHING else electronic on the planet be subject to short-circuit or TOTAL catastrophic failure but NOT 12V POS modules in more than a single circuit at a time... EVER!?!

Ya GOTTA know NASA would love to get their hands on about a bazillion of our little "mission critical" multi-channel power output stage modules where it's only possible that a single channel is all that could ever fail! A module where "after" one channel fails that module now becomes the "perpetual" multi-channel electronic module in EVERY other channel/circuit on-board the module. Nice trick! Hell if that module were a reality who wouldn't buy them by the semi-full, short a single channel out intentionally then have perpetual modules with one less circuit/channel? There would be "dropped-circuit" modules EVERYWHERE!!

Show me the "perpetual" multi-channel module. Go on, I dare ya. I DOUBLE DARE ya. Take ALL the time ya need. I'll be right here waiting.

Electronic and capable of only failing one way, EVER? Do ya know how positively preposterous, ridiculous and absurd that even sounds!?!

Default It will be cheap, or I'll trade for parts.

I don't need anything specific, but maybe you have something I want?

Default If Audi built this car today it wouldn't have a 12v V6 along with a lot of things.

I think they put it on the airbox of B5 cars because the Urs4's and Urs6's were loosing channels due to extreme heat from the turbo's and they decided it was easier to be safe then sorry and add it in to the new design of the B5 where tje engine bay is really cramped and most likely gets a lot hotter than the 100/A6/90 bays.

1.) Where did I say the car would run with a fried POS?

2.) I don't believe it for a second. Others have questioned this on the 90 forum as well. Want to tell me why the origonal post about the COMPLETE POS failure on his car is gone? It's not on the 90 forum or the 12v forum.

Default

It was a hypothetical situation. Just like you said, better safe than sorry.

Default there's no missing posts. Just use my ID# and search on "pos failure"

and others under "pos module" I also believe the "original post" you're referring to is at the link below.

Ya just have to know how to use seach the feature effectively. Just because you're lacking the skills doesn't mean a post has disappeared.

original post?

Default Nowhere did I say this. You have a way of putting words in people's mouths.

I'm not even going to reply to half of that diarrhea that just spewed out of your mouth.

But I will say this:

1.) I don't believe that this happened to YOU. Why don't you show me the original post on this that you made? It's GONE, as in it's not in the archives. As in you deleted it.

2.) I only said people loose channels here and there one at a time. Not that you can only loose one channel on a POS and it's somehow protected from loosing channels from there on out. I don't know how you could have misinterpreted that, but you did.

I dare you to un-delete that post and produce that failed POS for us. Throw it away did ya?

I know you still have kept and bead blasted the 3 pin small bore MAF which also doesn't exist from the factory....
