Rear oil o-ring

Default Rear oil o-ring

I am looking to replace my rear passenger camshaft seal.
Supposedly I need an o-ring.
ETKA lists the ring as discontinued and suggests I used the newer plastic plug.

How do the new plugs work? Do I shove it in? Do I put my metal cap back, just the retainer piece... or nothing except the new plug?

On mine i just removed the valve cover, pulled the bearing cap above it, and found an oring that worked from a parts place, and put it together.

Default I put in the new plug without a o ring

I then re installed the 2 posts and retaining bar just in case the new plug decided to try and come out.
