Strange Timing Belt Question, wing washers off 180 degrees!
This is my first post on Audi World,
I have a weird problem, I am doing my timing belt on my 1995 Audi A6 12v and I followed the directions step by step but my wing washers on both my camshafts are off by 180 degrees which prevent me from putting the cam alignment bar on. I have the special tools for the car and am sure my engine is at TDC, I even inserted the crankshaft locking pin with no problem and also the marks on the crankshaft pulley were lined up before I put the locking pin in. I am not the original owner, so is it possible that someone switched the camshaft wing washers? Is there any way that the wing washers could be 180 degrees off without the timing being off?
I really don’t know what to do now the directions say the large holes should be pointed towards the center but on mine the small holes are, and also the car ran great before I started this project.
