Looking for dos and don'ts on rebuilding or should i buy used?

i bought this car with a motor that stop running due to oil leaking from a small crack in the pan. it ran for a minute but know sounds like it doesn't have compression. im a 20 year tech just don't work on audi

You are in the wrong forum..this one is for the 2.8 12v Audi engines..you have a 3.0 30v..no matter. You can get a good used engine off the bay for about a grand.http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/272205674221?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true
