Default What size hose?

There is about a 2-3" long section of hose at the front right of the IM on my 96 A4 12V (below where the right 3 spark plug wires are hooked to the coils). One end slips over a brass fitting that connects to the IM and the other connects to a pastic tube that then runs towards the back of the engine. This hose is only visible when the plastic engine cover is taken off.

The hose as a crimp clamp on the brass end and a regular hose clamp on the plastic tube end.

What is this hose for? It is cracked on the outside, so I suspect it could start allowing a vacuum leak. Dealer wants ~$30 for this hose. Is it a regular hose or does it have different ID on each end? The plastic tube OD was roughly 12mm.

What should I get?

Thanks,
Byas

I pulled out the hose and measured the brass fitting -- it is about 11.5mm. Is there such a size of hose or will a 12mm hose work? This hose/tube combination connects to the brake booster.

Default As long as it's a tight fit it should be fine

Get a good hose clamp for it.

I put 10mm ID silicone hose on mine and it's a tight fit.
