Default How to install new timing chain on 2.0T TFSI engine (2009 Audi A4)

I'm trying to figure out how to install a brand new upper timing chain correctly on the 2.0T TFSI engine from a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T. I have access to AllData repair manuals and Ross Tech diag software.

I know the normal procedure is to mark the old timing chain, but in this case the car had jumped timing, so the old timing chain was worthless, I need to know how to install a new timing chain correctly without any marks. Also, if the arrow on the crank pulley is not lined up, but feels correct, does this mean I have TDC 180' opposite? There is a white mark on the pulley made by a previous owner is seems that lines up with the mark on the cover, but according to AllData, the arrow on the pulley should line up with the arrow on the cover?

I took a look but I think that topic is for the 2.0L TDI motor, not the 2.0T TFSI motor.

If this guy is still wondering, the new chain itself actually has marks on it, should be yellow links at each mark on the cams, and a link at the crank cog. Same with the balancer chain.

All the chains have marking links and only.line up one way. The hardest part is keeping the cog in the crankshaft because taking the pin out of the tensioner will cause it to pull. I use the crankshaft bolt to hold the cog while I do all three chains, that way I can pull all the tensioner pins. Then you can pit the lower cover on with the bolt still holding the cog. Once you have the front cover on and sealed, the front cover has a little point that keeps the cog from jumping off the crank. You take the crankshaft bolt off and install crankshaft pulley. You must make sure the cog is sitting correctly on the crankshaft because it only fits one way. It can still tighten and be in the wrong spot.so remember to make sure you look at it carefully before putting any of the chains on.

PM me if you have any more questions. I have done a bunch of them

hope this helps, Connor
