Oil leaking around valve cover
I've got a 2013 TFSI that seems to be seeping oil around the entire valve cover. It isn't a whole lot, but it is enough to have attracted a bunch of dirt. Just wondering if this is normal or not; apparently there is no valve cover gasket so replacing the gasket isn't an easy option. I checked my PCV and the check valve from the intake manifold seems to be working properly, so I don't think I have an overpressure issue. There was a slight bit of oil in the breather tube however. My PCV ends with a J, im not sure what revision that is.

"Sweating" of the gasket is normal. If it gets enough that it starts smelling like burning oil after a long drive you may want to replace the gasket/valve cover. However its sold.

from what i have read about this TFSI engine, there is no gasket, it is some sort of sealant. But I am not 100% sure, finding info on this engine is proving difficult.

Hi
sorry to bump an old thread. I’ve literally just signed up. I too have a minor oil leak I noticed changing the sparks today a small amount that had filtered down onto the threads which I appreciate could be the o rings (in which case would now be solved) but I too have found difficulty finding info on the q5 2.0 tfsi ( mine is 2016 - 8rb) …. Do you know anymore re the gasket or lack of? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
