Q5 TFSI 2.0 Turbo Engine Change
I have a Q5 - 2009 TFSI 2.0 Turbo, and it is suffering from the dreaded oil consumption etc, and is now at the stage it is almost undriveable due to bellowing smoke, oiling plugs etc.
I can get a 2014 equivalent TFSI 2.0 engine from a MY14 Q5 - rear ended write off. It would be swapping from a CDNC to a CNCD engine. It looks like it should be a straight swap, the engine harnesses look the same (even though they are different part numbers).
Has anyone else tried this ? And would there be any issues in performing a straight swap - Have considered also swapping in the engine harness with the new engine, would it cause issues with the 09 ECU ? As the 14 is an "8 Speed" and the 09 is a "7 Speed"
Any advice gratefully received before I drop a great deal of $$$ on this replacement engine
