TFSI Engine Blows water pump every 6months

Hey All,

I have been searching everywhere and asking tons of people, so I am hoping there is someone here that has seen my issue and can help.

I have a 2009 Audi A3 8P with 57K miles on it. In the two years of ownership, a water pump has busted every 6 months (7K miles) like clockwork. It may be one of the most consistent occurrences in my life. Each time I replace it with an OEM pump and it works great until suddenly it starts gushing coolant 6 months down the road. When I replaced the pump the second time, I noticed that the broken pump had busted because the water pump assembly o-ring (double circle o-ring that connects between the block and the water pump) had expanded and busted through the plastic of the pump. My thinking was that oil must have seeped from the cam cover down onto the pump and caused the o-ring to expand. So, I also replaced the cam cover seal and made sure nothing is leaking there. I thought this would have solved my problems until the pump started gushing fluid again yesterday. I haven't had a chance to pull the pump yet but I am wondering if it is this same o-ring issue, or if the problem is attributable to something else.

Has anyone had this happen, where a water pump just keeps going out? What are some other things I should be looking for? Other than the pump, the car drives great and has no check engine lights etc.

Thanks for your help.
