Default 2.7T engine failure update...

In response to: https://forums.audiworld.com/27tv6/msgs/4605.phtml (I am sorry, I thought replying to an older thread would have bumped it up, but it didn't).

New update: Sent the turbo's back to Avalon Motorsport where they were rebuilt and sent back and re-installed. Now it's all back together and the oil is still streaming out of "somewhere". The oil started as a quick drip upon starting the engine after the motor was put back in, but after a few km of driving it's a steady stream again.

I've taken the car back from the mechanic, who's got no idea what it could be. He's out of ideas, and I'm out of money so I'll be taking this on myself now.

What collateral damage could have been caused by the turbo failure? Oil lines have been checked, cleaned, and re-checked. We can't visually diagnose the leak, as the engine has already been pulled twice, and when it's out, we can't run the engine and it only leaks when the engine is running.

I will be doing a compression test on all cylinders tomorrow night which will hopefully determine if it's headgasket. The engine seems to be running just fine despite the oil leak, so I think compression might come back okay.

Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

All washers were replaced both times the engine was reinstalled.

Default paint engine white and see where it turns black? clean engine, put UV additive in it, and

run engine to see where it's coming out?

Well it LOOKS as if it's coming out of oil feed line where it goes into the turbo, however it's all been pulled apart, put back together with my mechanic triple-checking EVERYTHING and it's still leaking out of there. As I said before, new washers were installed both times.

Lines were flushed both times it was apart.

are you sure it's the oil feed line, or are the seals inside toast?

Turbo's already been sent back to be reconditioned, all new seals, same problem.

Default it could have all new seals, but one could have blown out or not been installed properly.

that's a long shot, of course, but possible.

Default Follow the feed lines up

to the top of the motor, under the coolant plumbing is a tee that feeds oil to the turbos. Difficult to see even more difficult to get with a wrench. Very good possibility of a leak such as you describe.

Replacing banjo bolts and washers is and incredible waste of money.
