2000 A6 2.7T Sound System
When I turn off the switch the sound system also goes off. On a 1995 A6 I owned, the sound system would continue to play until I opened the door. Does my 2000 have a problem with the switch or is the radio supposed to go off immediately when the ignition switch is turned off? Thanks for your comments.

Yes, my two daughters taught me that the sterio works without the car keys -- didn;t know the speakers could get that loud
Also, if I remember correctly, the sterio is set to a timer or something (when it's in this engine-off mode) and shuts off by itself after a certain period of time. Anyone confirm this?

yup. according to my manual, it's an hour.
kinda funny, always thought it was a voltage thing. according to the manual, you can just turn it right back on and do it again and again.
yeah, I start the car, personally.

Re: it is supposed to go off when you turn the key switch to off. back on, though,
Thanks. I was afraid that was the answer. I know I can turn it back on without the key, but the interruption is kind of annoying. My 1995 A6 system would continue to play when the key was switched off, and continue to stay on until the front door was opened. Evidently Audi omitted that feature sometime between the 95 and 00 model years. As they say..... 'That's progress'.
