2001 s4 b5 2.7T overheating and losing coolant
i just got a 2001 audi S4 b5 2.7T, i love the ride and everything about this car. it is my first Audi and im not very knowledgable about it yet.
Here is my problem, im losing coolant, i have to put about a bottle in very two days. i just changed the oil a few days ago and the oil was pretty thick, and now my oil temp light keeps beeping at me, so when i checked the oil again today, there was a white foam type stuff on the oil cap. i know from just the basics that this is most likly caused by head gaskets being bad. Another issue is that when i try and get on her she skips, when i first got the car the guy i bought it from told me that a coil pack was bad. No proble, got all 6 new coil packs and replaced the plugs as well. she is still skipping. i guess my question is if the head gaskets are bad would that cause the skipping? and what anyones best guess about how much a head gasket job would cost? and also if i decided to do it myself what tools would i need. and what would be the risks, or is it just best to pay to have it done.
Thanks for your help ahead of time.... any kind of links with information would also be helpful.

do a compression test ASAP, and stop driving the car! if it's a head gasket you need to get it fixed, it will get worse! and yes it will cause a miss bad idle low power overheating etc.....
cost wise could easily run $2000-3000.
if you do it yourself closer to $600, this is not a easy job on the 2.7 because of the space, it is probably best to pull the engine, although I think their is a post from this month in the A6 forum on doing head gaskets on his 2.7t with the engine in the car.
