Anyone care to play Name That Oil Leak? (cam tensioners is not an answer)
or maybe it is --
This is a 2002 allroad 2.7T with 50K on the clock.
burning oil coming from drivers side, bottom on engine, about 1/2 way from firewall to front of the engine.
Being told it is the vent hose. Been chasing this leak for a long time, car is under CPO which expires soon.

valve cover gaksets? My laser has a elak and it seems as iff its form the turbos but its not
it comes form the valve cover and makes it way on to the turbo exhaust housing and burns occasionally

maybe they didnt properly install the cam tensioner gaskets/valve covers OR
maybe the turbo is leaking oil?
mine leaked oil and still were not blown, then one day poof.. but i think they blew form the journal bearing. they were leaking for about 20k

I've had my AR for about 4 months (done brakes/rotors and fuel pump as well as trying to fix this problem), sounds like I've got the same issue?Engine is too tight for the mechanic to see where the oil starts. Must be a slow leak while parked, as the smoke is worst after the car has been parked for 5+ hours:
- I did the rocker cover gasket... didn't work
- Just got it back from doing cam seals... didn't work (haven't seen the bill yet)
- The mechanic said it could be coming from the turbo (but didn't sound confident)
Any help? PLEASE??
Mark
ps. Don't buy an Allroad.

you sure he did the cam seals right?
did he replace the valve cover gaskets?
next stop is rear main seal, but I don't see that causing smoke
might lean towards clogged PCV, but if you actually see oil, that wouldn't cause it...
