ARP Chip in a 2.7t w/140K Miles
Good Morning All,
I am new to this site. I have been reading it for some time now. I wanted to get peoples opinion on chipping a 2001 A6 2.7T with just over 140K miles. Has anyone done this and were there problems? Should I not do it?
Thanks Again

Thanks for the quick reply ... APR is Correct. Not much has been done to motor - I have had it since the 60K mark, just over 3 years now. Replaced timing belt, synthetic oil only every 4K-5K, air filters... ect. Most miles are highway miles. I'm changing a problem coil this weekend, while I'm there doing all plugs too.
Is there anything that should be done, first?

At 140K I'd do the diverter valves and throttle body boot now as well. Here's some links if you're not familiar with those items:

Below is the response I received from my local ARP dealer. Getting funds together now to chip, new TB & DV's. Same advice given by all of you. Thanks for all the input. Will follow up after upgrades - JH
"Alot is going to depend on how the car was cared for or maintained previously if ur new to owning the vehicle.
-I dont recall chipping one with that mileage but know we have chipped cars that are now at the mileage
-The chip wont ever cause a problem directly but if there are any preexisting problems, even ones you may be unaware of, it will exaggerate those problems
-There isnt really anything else needed to go with the chip but on that car i would highly reccommend replacing the throttle body boot and diverter valves if they havent already been done
-A tune up would not be a bad idea if the condition or last tune up is un-known, mainly plugs and check hoses.
-We do have a intake that replaces the airbox on that and uses its own heatsheilds and open filter.
Any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks

DV'S will unleash all the power from the tune and a TBB would be a great thing to purchase too, with the stock TBB it huffs up when you rev the engine which could cause a leak after a while. Also i would suggest saving money and doing it yourself its an easy fix just take your time. APR gave my buddy a quote of 300$ to put in the dv's and tbb
