Default bad smell from exhaust

I bought my wife a 2000 A6 we have had the car for 3 years and love the car. It now has 100k miles, the 90k service was done by a local metric wrench. We have had a cold spell this week and have a horrible smell come from the car exhuast. The smell is almost Kerosene like, the car stays in the garage, uses only premium fuel, and withen the past 4k has had the injectors cleaned. Is this bad gas? Is this a common thing? This isnt the first cold spell for us, but the smell is strong and enters the house from the garage. Any Ideas?
Thanks for any help

if it smells like rotten eggs, then your catalytic converter went bad.

Cats don't work when cold...do you only smell it when its cold? Could be normal...

WOW, nice S4. Car is stock for now, no smell of eggs and it happened when it turned cold, currently -13 outside today so it is a little warmer out then it has been. Fuel milage is unchanged ar 24 hwy, 16 city, The smell is like a kerosene or a strange unburnt fuel.

Default honestly, I've never had my car at that temperature, so I can't say what is okay or not.

that's crazy low, btw. i'd suggest just not starting/idling it inside the garage.

My wife is supposed to open door start car drive out. but who knows as sometimes wives and common sense with cars are not in the same catagory. I have a mustang with no cats, different smell on the exhaust. I just havent had that smell before and the smell is strong. I think i will drain fuel, and start with fresh fuel as maybe a bad fillup is issue

well, if you had bad fuel, you should also have other problems, like misfires, etc., or so I think.

Default My guess is that it's normal. It's been really cold here (down to -25 actually) and my car smells

like straight fuel...and I guess I noticed a bit of a sulfur smell..not too strong though, just more like unburned fuel. If your car is making that smell once warmed up then you have bad cats IMO.
