Cheap Blown Turbo Fix!!!
Cheap Blown Turbo Fix!!!
Ok now that got your attention! I like every other 2.7T owner lives in fear of the day that both the turbos will go and meet their maker, and the prospect of a $2500-$5000 bill for replacement looms. For many of us that is potently more than our car is worth, faced with the prospect of the cost of replacing my car I am looking for another option. I have heard talk of removing the turbos and putting on the manifold for a 2.8 car in place of the turbos. Is this a realistic possibility or an tall tail? From looking at the Bentley (page 21-1) you would have to do the following: • Replace the engine manifold for one from a 2.8 car. (does not have the flanges for the turbos just a straight pipe) • Bridge the gap between where the air would go into the turbo and come out of the turbo (I am sure you would have to do something to fool a pressure censor) • Bride the gap between where the oil would go into and out of the Turbo. Question is what else would you have to do? Also I have no clue what the consequences would be from an engine management system point of view given that the air going into the manifold is now at a much lower pressure than it would be with a turbo. Any ideas or comments? Thanks James |
it'd be a ton harder than that. would be cheaper and easier to spend the $$$$ on a K04 turbo upgrade
