My EGR valve's vacuum side hose is cracked and the shop is telling me to replace the whole unit even though the unit itself is not the problem.

My question here is,

EGR valves and SAIP are two different things right??

EGR recirculate the exhaust gas back into the chamber for cooler temp.
SAIP pumps extra air into the chamber at the start of the engine until CAT warms up.

so EGR and SAIC is not same right?? or am I missing something?

after doing long long STFA trying to find the difference between the EGR(Exhaust gas recirculation) valves and SAIP(secondary air injector pump). I literally found none...

The reason I am asking this question is,
I paid to remove my SAIP CEL from ECU a year ago and IF!! EGR valve and SAI is samething, I don't need to fix this problem. I have to tell the shop to dont fix it and just disconnect it and put everything back together.

BUT

If EGR valve is a different part and must needed part for our engine setup, I have to purchase EGR Valve(driver's side) ASAP.


I know I don't know much about my car so please help me out on this one...

where did you go to get the SAIP removed? i am having the secondary air pump problems and i want to void it from the ecu.

the egr and saip are different
