Default Has anyone here ever built a 2.7t motor from the short block out? (timing issue)

I blew my motor a little while back in my S4 and I finally got all the parts I need to rebuild it with. I bought a Eurospec 2.8 block and I need to figure out how to time everything. The heads are all assembled and the cams are timed within the heads, but beyond that I'm clueless. thanks

you need the cam timing bar that goes from exhaust cam to exhaust cam. i would reccomend using the crank lock pin as well. the cam belt pulleys should be loose from the camshaft so they can freewheel. install the lock and the bar at the same time, torque it all down. turn it over by hand to check it all. reinstall the cam bar and crank lock to verify timing

Default Thinking of getting their 2.8T too. Is that the $4200 short block?

And do you know if they take a credit on your old block?

Default Yes that's the $4200 short block. As far as the credit, I don't believe so, they didn't mention

anything to me about doing that. The motor is beautiful. If you search the B5 S4/RS4 forum within the past week or so, you'll see pictures of the motor. It comes with the bottom end built, complete with oil pan and internal oil pump.
