HELP 2.7T Trouble
OK so my wife was driving our 2000 Audi a6 with the 2.7t in it home one night and as her story goes " it just broke " she was able to limp it home. when she got home i looked at it. and it just sounded like crap. it was missing like crazy the engine was shaking. so i replaced all 6 coil packs and plugs and its doing the same thing. i switch the ignition packs and no difference. the only code i was able to get was p0300 misfire. it starts but to me it sounds like the timing is off or something. i can here what sounds to be like valve noise when it is running and like i said before then engine is shaking and still getting misfire code. im not sure what could be going on. maybe cam position sensor? i don't think that would be the problem but maybe. if it will help i can post a vid. any help would be great!! its our only car and we need it fixed soon.

Do a compression test and a leak down test. If it was a lean or rich misfire it would set those faults. It could also be an injector. With only 1 fault it could be a lot of things causing the misfire. Dont just throw parts it test things narrow down the possible causes.

thanks for the advice . yeah defiantly don't want to keep throwing parts at it. im on a tight budget that's why i haven't taken it to a shop. im pretty good with working on cars. for a compression test just pop one plug out then test it with what too? it should be 120 PSI right? and what is a leak down test and how do i got about accomplishing that. its just really wired that it happened all of a sudden. the car was running great and then BAM not it is running like crap its so bad i don't even want to drive it anywhere. i will try to post a vid as soon as a can.

You need a compression tester and you have to disable fuel and unplug all of the coils. Pull the fuel pump fuse to disable fuel. Remove all the spark plugs install the compression tester at each cylinder and crank the engine for a couple of seconds until the pressure stops building. Make sure you are consistant with how long you are cranking for each cylinder.
